The Paperwork Your Pet Actually Needs, and Why It Gets Checked

Vaccination certificates, lab results, referral letters, insurance policy documents: it's easy to assume these are just filing. In practice, specific documents get checked, at specific moments, by people who won't proceed without them.

Three situations where the actual document, not just your memory of it, is what's required:

Travel, both international and sometimes interstate, runs on strict paperwork timing. Moving a pet across borders commonly requires proof of specific vaccinations (rabies in particular) and sometimes a health certificate completed within a defined window before travel, often measured in days, not "sometime this year."
